Understanding Your Statement

Keeping you informed and ensuring you understand what is happening with your financial plan are important to us.

What You Can Expect

You will receive monthly statements and an annual summary to track your portfolio’s progress and get a clear look at your financial picture. It also helps track your progress towards meeting your goals.

There are two ways you can receive your account documents: by mail or electronically. You can choose your preferred method of document delivery through Investor Access (raymondjames.com/investoraccess), a secure online system for your Raymond James account information.

Your Comprehensive Statement Breakdown

Investment Objectives or Account Purpose

At the top of your statement you will find the “Investment Objectives,” which are your primary and secondary goals. These objectives are based on information you provided and will help determine if your investments are in line with your expectations.

Activity

Next you will find the “Activity” section, which details account deposits, income, withdrawals, expenses, and changes in value for the reporting period and year-to-date. Overall dollar amounts for purchases, sales, margin loan, and short sales are also provided.

Performance

Depending on your accounts, you will either see dollar-weighted or time-weighted reporting in this section. Standard accounts use dollar-weighted reporting, so deposits and withdrawals affect the results. Managed accounts use time-weighted reporting, which is based on market value changes to help you more easily evaluate manager performance.

Value Over Time

This chart shows the historical
value of your investments.

Asset Allocation

This pie chart displays how your individual account is allocated to various asset classes.

Cash and Cash
Alternatives

This details cash holdings, including funds available in money market funds or Raymond James Bank.

Equities

Options, stocks and any other class of equities in your account. Unrealized gains or losses are shown when applicable.

Mutual Funds

This includes complete information about open-ended and closed-end funds in your portfolio. Costs, the current yield, estimated annual income and the percentage and dollar amounts of any gains or losses are all detailed.

Fixed Income

This section offers a credit quality analysis of applicable credit ratings and the percentage and dollar value allocated to each category.

Maturity Analysis

This provides information about the maturities of your fixed income assets.

Your Activity

This includes complete information about open-ended and closed-end funds in your portfolio. Costs, the current yield, estimated annual income and the percentage and dollar amounts of any gains or losses are all detailed.

Retirement Plan Summary

The “activity summary” shows recent contributions by tax year. Below that you’ll find the “required minimum distribution” shows how much you are required to withdraw from your retirement funds. You will also find the “distribution standing withholding elections,” which shows your federal and state withholding elections that apply to all distributions from your IRA. You will also see information on your selected beneficiaries.

Capital Access

If you have capital access, your statement will include this as well, along with an activity summary and activity detail section.
